Business Message - We Can't Afford To Pay Minimum Wages Much Less A Living Wage.

The Koch message should ring loud and clear. The fact that $34,000 is in the top of 1% of wage on the planet is very stark and revealing. What it says is that even that wage is too much for American workers if you read between the lines.

The underlying logic is that a minimum wage kills growth and hurts jobs and that American need to get used to making less and less over time as we MUST compete on this kind of global economy. Corporations are committed to creating jobs where the wages are the lowest and not here. The new markets are where the multinationals desire to create new middle classes where wages are the lowest. American workers are seeing reduced wages in that their full time jobs are cut to part time or temporary or contracts so "wage parity" can be achieve with global wages. Welcome to the brave new world of work where you and your children will have to work less. If they do not work for less we cannot begin to compete as a country.

In the eyes of Koch and his corporate allies paying American workers what it take to live will put them out of business on an international scale. The GOP fully supports their deregulation agenda that includes a FREE MARKET wage. They will only create jobs if they can operate under such conditions.

This situation is what the Reagan Revolution was all about. Get government out of the way so you can install the ultracapitalist solution. The new economic world has NO boundaries and you wage is now tied to what a worker make in India, China or other third world country.

Big money buys off the GOP while it threatens Democrats to support their agenda or be buried by campaign money
given to the opposition.

other pay incentives, all the while nickle and dimming the average worker.......yeah, that makes a lot of sense to the average worker who needs two or three jobs just to survive. Not only that, but most of us are at will employees, while those at the top have negotiated contracts that keep them employed even if they're not really doing a good job..........and there are usually provisions in those contracts, that pay a CEO big money should those on the board of directors decide she or he needs to be fired. It's a compensation package better known as a Golden Parachute......must be nice........ they take care of themselves and each other at the top, and they send a big F*ck U message to the average worker in words and wages.

If they can't pay a living wage and make a profit, they are incompetent.

I'm sick of their whining. Businesses are a front to suck money out of the income, for the upper management, and starve the workers as much as possible.

I'm reading a very interesting biography of Karl Marx, BTW.

Karl Marx: A Nineteenth Century Life, by Jonathan Sperber.
