1. No. Prosecuting him would be an alternative. It could be the best way.

The Senate has the authority to prosecute those impede a Senate investigation through perjury.

Pushing the ball to Obama and asking him to hold Clapper accountable is something that is not going to happen. It's just a dodge and an avoidance of responsibility.

3. Agree. Levin often makes strong statements..but, there's little or no follow through.

There is no way Obama will fire him. Senate should hold him accountable for lying or evasion.

They can only refer him to the US attorney for DC who is employed by Obama.

4. Prosecute him. The administration prosecuted an athlete for lying about steroid use

No way Clapper should get off with just being fired, not with the gravity of all he's done. And Ed Snowden, the whistleblower who brought the perjury to the nation's attention, needs to be pardoned. That's the least Levin and other congressman can do for not having done their job and provided oversight.

5. "Potentially fire him" as opposed to "actually prosecute him for perjury". BTW, to

those who say Snowden isn't a whistle-blower, ask yourselves whether Levin would even be calling for Clappers' 'potentail firing' were it not for Snowden's revelations. From where I sit, Snowden's revelations are what brought Clappers' perjury to light.

6. President Obama Stands By James Clapper

Obama stands by intelligence chief as criticism mounts
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/12/james-clapper-intelligence-chief-criticism

or at least he did a few weeks ago with his "Heck of a Job, Clappy" endorsement.
Hopefully, his position will evolve on protecting this guy.

That is kind of an ass chapper too,
wasting our Dry Powder and using the power of the White House to protect guys like Clapper and Holder
while good Progressive DEMOCRATS are abandoned at the slightest hint of Republican disapproval,
like Van Jones, Shirley Sherrod, and ACORN.

There is no way in hell he should get fired only to end up at Booz Allen AGAIN or any other NSA linked private contractors.

There are a large number of folks willing to be completely lacking in truth and candor in return for wages. Fire him, and hire another that does the same thing. What good does that do?
