Couldn't you just hear his patented Special Comments on George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin?

(113,549 posts)He would have had a ball with that one.
All I can say is yes!
It's a shame he doesn't do a blog with a podcast. I know there's no money in it but at least it would be a good place for him to vent.

(14,459 posts)The sheer insanity of everything that's going on deserves almost continuous special comments.
The silence of people we've lost as our voices either through death or silenced by the media and gov't is deafening.
Can you imagine what Carlin would have to say after the last 4 weeks?

(4,104 posts)In the last few years. It just makes the struggle feel that much harder to me.

(14,459 posts)Keith and the ones still with us are an especially hard loss. We need all of the voices of dissent, especially the smart ones, that we can find.
As I said below, though- if they can't be here for us for whatever reason, we have to carry the torch forward.

(14,656 posts)was he? He at the very least was saying what we were thinking and now so much of it has come true....sadly.

(14,459 posts)Really tackled issues that were considered sacred cows and made a great bbq of it. Freedom of thought? Expression? Dissent? Amazing how many people are against that when it's not their agenda. He really challenged that in various ways that I thought got you thinking.
Is God a temp worker with a bad attitude? Should there be 7 words we can't say? Is the Pentagon letting CNN suck their dick in the most obvious way possible?
While I miss him, I think he set the example and we have to carry the torch forward. I use humor and snark extensively in my activism now- facts are boring but shock opens minds

(14,656 posts)I really appreciate those who are. You're right....humor and snark can be effective.

(14,459 posts)But Carlin and others got me in touch with me inner smart-ass. Some people are offended by it, others are amused, and others open up and play along.
The big surprise comes when someone asks me to explain what I'm making fun of. I tell them...and that's when they stop being the sheep they were.

(34,108 posts)He's not supposed to talk about politics there. That will be hard for him I think.

(10,176 posts)on HBO and began the second season. I know Aaron Sorkin says it's not based on Keith but I sure find that hard to believe. I'm really missing him too. There were many devoted Keith fans here on DU.

(1,555 posts)and don't have Current, so never saw him there either. Thom Hartmann is my go to voice and Stephanie Miller for a more comedic bent. My evening TV is left to Big Bang Theory/Family Guy while reading my progressive blogs until Daily Show/Colbert come on.

(23,280 posts)and Jennifer Granholm on War Room. (BTW, what happened to her? I never did hear.....)

(20,453 posts)"My agreement with Current was for the duration of the election (and the sale). It has been a very fun adventure; we are blessed with a wonderful team. We'll continue to broadcast The War Room for the next few weeks through the transition, but after that I'll be going back to teaching, speaking and other things."
Michael Shure hosts it, and it's still good, but she made it great. Current is still tops for any political evening news for me.
I'll always miss Keith and part of me will be pissed off that he couldn't get over his ego-manicacal manner. The fight should have been bigger than he was getting. It still should.
Hope you read this, KO. Hope you're big enough to be smaller than the cause again.

(36,132 posts)I never felt so proud of journalism's ability to ground analysis in fact as when I learned from Keith. I wish he would find a way back to helping our nation get its democratic groove back.

(10,362 posts)Didn't realize it until he left. Couldn't bear to watch that channel anymore after he left.
Now it's loaded with hacks and boring hosts.

(2,693 posts)there is hardly a shortage of bombastic ignoramuses willing to share opinions, likely as not they even will give insults freely.
