Deep gratitude for the responses to my thread re Obama's comments.

I just wanted to say that the opportunity to have a pretty measured, open and intelligent conversation with so many of you around my post yesterday about President Obama's comments lifted my spirits considerably about DU and the possibility of talking to one another in general about this very, very vital topic. You've been curious, considerate, and for the most part have helped move the conversation forward. That's the DU that keeps me coming back, and influences my thinking.

Thanks. We did some damned good work. Let's hope the rest of the country can strive like we've been.

When the acquittal happened I became very depressed. When President Obama spoke it brought me a step up from depression because he made me cry the entire time he was talking. After he spoke I came to DU. My faith is restored.

And the fact that there has been such a vicious backlash to what he said is testament to how powerful his words are.
