The 7 GOP Senators should flip party affiliation

and then let the GOP whine about retaliation and poor Trumpie and, Ewww whatever!

If those seven courageous and logical humans quit the GOP and joined the Dems, think who would get booted from Committee chairs?
Which of those 7, would be rewarded, by the Dems, so to provide them with some serious ammo in the 2022 campaigns?

After Nixon, many defected, and if you think the Qanons and the Tea Party are an actual threat to a member, WHO HAS SWITCHED, think again.
The GOP fringsters become useless, just background noise and the media is not going to fester over....Oh look at the traitor to the GOP.. Whaaaa. Media will sstart talking to them, as Dems, and the caucuses they belong to. Media will validate them as Dems, and there is nothing the whine=bags on the right wing can do about that fact.

Most of America, knows the GOP is now not for America, by a long stretch and they will not have anywhere what they thought of, as SUPPORT, anytime soon. The 30% that is Qanon loyalist are just that. 30% and nothing more.

Welcoming them straight in would cause more internal turmoil for us, and we really don't need that.

if they remain R’s they will be treated badly in their own party, but if they switch to I’s, they will be in the cat seat.

Maybe they should break off and form an American Republican party built on the ideals of conservatism and apart from the personality driven death cult slavishly devoted to preserving the Russian syndicate's interests their former party has become.

A party like that would exist only as a spoiler for the Raving Monster Loony Republican Party.

All Republican successes over the last 40+ years have depended on fostering rage and foam to give them the margin of victory needed to enact their pet policies. But they never followed through on the things they used to whip people up.

So they lost control when a guy promised their Ahab base white whale steak dinners for life (and the hagfish will pay for it).

If they formally break with it, they condemn themselves to electoral loss.

I'll die waiting.

However, such a thing would be a sight to behold. Especially, if it extended to environmental conservation. But, a dedication to those ideals would condemn them from any and all notice from the eyes of the money. Which has proven to be steadfast in it's neo-liberalism.

One of the senators, pat toomey, is going to retire in 2022. Why not give him an ambassadorship now, ( maybe Ireland, Toomey is an Irish name) and then the governor of PA, who is a democrat, could appoint a democratic senator.

8. That would look uncomfortably like a payoff for his vote.

I like the sentiment, but this would put his motives for the vote in question.

If he wants to leave office early for whatever reason, that would be fine. Especially if he wants to retaliate against the GOP by filling his slot with a Democrat. But there shouldn't be some reward from us for his vote.

I don't have insider knowledge, however he's no stranger to the big money firms on Wall Street. That's where he came from, and most likely he's planning to go back there.

In 2016 Pennsylvania could have elected Katie McGinty who would have done a great job as Senator and she would have worked for the PEOPLE of Pennsylvania instead of the one-per-centers. We are well rid of Pat Toomey who spent 4 long years enabling Chump.

10. The recent history of party switching by Senators suggests that won't happen

The last three Senators to switch parties:

Jim Jeffords -- switched from R to Ind and began caucusing with Democrats. He didn't seek re-election
Joe Lieberman - switched from D to Ind, but continued to caucus with Democrats
Arlen Specter - switched from R to D. Defeated in Democratic primary.

It would be a "big tent" statement, but my limited imagination is having a hard time reconciling right-of-center with the party's direction and future.
