ok i started this a while back and i thought the DUers who so vehemently dislike the south would take advantage of an opportunity to say what they would about each component of the south
i have been disappointed and made happy at the same time
i have posted about half of the southern states and so far everyone has been very positive
no snarking no sarcasm
when i started these i started them as a reaction to the constant southbashing on DU
here was your chance DU to have at the south piece by piece
is it only when the south is taken as a whole that it is detested? are the components of the south not responsible for the actions of the whole?
this is not a complaint i love the south and am glad she isnt having mud kicked on her party gown
but i do find it confusing when so much vitriol can be tossed upon the south as a whole but each state passes unscathed
i do wish to thank everyone who has contributed to the threads they have my name on them but they are your threads
i have had beautiful pics from several states posted and several DUers have taken to acting as a sort of state info outlet when their state is discussed
i thank you all for this
many of the states i have not in fact visited and your input is irreplaceable

(11,913 posts)it's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to make it my permanent, voting home. Our plan for retirement is that we'll travel down there then come back home to Delaware for voting and to stay in our home long enough to not have questions re: permanent residency.
If Delaware turned all repub and started going the way of Virginia or Florida, I might move farther north.
