In a new sign of tumult within Anthony D. Weiners embattled political operation, his campaign manager has quit, leaving his already skeletal team without a day-to-day leader.
According to two people told of the decision, the campaign manager, Danny Kedem, no longer wished to oversee Mr. Weiners bid for New York mayor after a week of bruising revelations about the candidates latest online conduct. The two people, who have close ties to the campaign, did not want to be identified because they were disclosing confidential conversations.
Mr. Kedem, 31, informed Mr. Weiner of his decision in the last 24 hours, the two people said.
Mr. Kedem and a spokeswoman for Mr. Weiners campaign declined to comment.

He did this to himself. He couldn't control his urge to flash. IMO he's getting what he deserves.

(193 posts)Weiner is a fierce defender of liberal American principles and a staunch advocate for the less powerful, but the guy has serious self control issues. Too bad, if he exercised more control over his impulses he would have made a great mayor.

(193 posts)Especially here in ny we remember weiner's impassioned defense of the affordable care act. We also remember that he was outspoken in his advocacy for gun control long before it became a cause celebre.
Say what you will about his personal life but only teabaggers dislike his politics and only fools and liars deny his effectiveness.

(114,904 posts)it's complete bullshit that he was a progressive, dear. Only morons fall for his self-promoting shit.
Have a good long chew on this:
From The Nation:
<snip>
As a congressman, Anthony Weiner was a spectacularly ineffective buffoon. A recent New York Times review of his tenure in the House paints a devastating portrait: Weiner was megalomaniacal, narcissistic, bad at navigating the political ropes, alienating to potential allies, alarmingly disinterested in making actual change and really, really mean to his staff (one former aide likened him to Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada). In his twelve-plus years in Congress, the Times notes, Weiner sponsored and wrote only one bill that he steered to enactment: a measure pushed by a family friend who gave his campaigns tens of thousands of dollars in donations. When Democrats controlled Congress in 200708, Weiner introduced fifty bills but didnt get so much as a cosponsor on thirty-nine of them. According to a former staffer quoted by the Times, He just never tried
. The point was to be able to say he introduced a bill. Yes, Weiner squawked loudly about single-payer healthcare, but his interest in it always smacked of grandstanding opportunism. When the ACA finally came up for a vote, Weiner threatened to hold it up in committee unless he could introduce a single-payer amendmenta noble cause, which he bartered away not for any policy concessions but for a primetime speaking slot and a letter of recommendation from Nancy Pelosi.
And thats just his record on domestic issues. When it comes to foreign policy, Weiner can give Liz Cheney a run for her money. He was one of eighty-two Democrats who voted for the Iraq War, and he continued to support its funding long after its flimsy rationale had evaporated. But its on the subject of Israel/Palestine that Weiner truly distinguishes himself. At least twice in public, he has insisted that the West Bank is not occupied, denying a fact that even right-wing former Israeli Prime Minister and settler movement architect Ariel Sharon admitted a decade ago (for a complete account and video of Weiners statements, see Ali Gharibs report for The Daily Beast). He has also claimed that there is no Israeli military presence in the West Bank, which would be news to the IDF soldiers stationed there. As Stephen Zunes points out, Weiners denial fits squarely in a disturbing pattern of squelching criticism of the Israeli state and of making patently untrue statements to do so, including claiming that the United States recognizes the PLO as a terrorist organization twenty years after it ceased using that designation. These statements reveal Weiner to be a knowing liar or a willfully ignorant ideologue, either of which should disqualify him from holding public office.

(193 posts)Know what's best for new Yorkers even more than we new Yorkers do??
The article you cited, apart from being merely one person's opinion, chastises Weiner for wanting universal health care and in the next breath chastises him for not obstructing the entire affordable care act till he got his way.
Obviously weiners self control issues cast doubt on his ability to govern the greatest city on earth, but his liberal credentials and his fighting spirit are beyond reproach
And by the way the reason we kicked British butt in 1776 was because we didn't want you Brits to have a say in any of our elections. But no worries "mate" we will reciprocate by not telling you how foolish your worship of the "royal" family is.

Hey that insignificant twerp de blasio doesn't offend our bigoted sensibilities as much as the others.
Sure he's an I-.talian but look at the others. De blasio it is
Shame on you for being so willing even eager to endorse others bigotry without knowing what's going on
And if you do know and endorse it any way double shame.

but i don't understand what is going on with people who are not from ny. I have something to lose if this phony is my mayor. everyone else on the otherhand...

(894 posts)his dick, but when you look at what was the underlying factor in that, it's those qualities that are part of the rest of him that is so annoying. I personally think he has some seriously deep seated insecurities, and is highly immature, no wait, juvenile. When i saw him take to the floor in congress, i was just so unimpressed. Oh look, you can throw a tantrum. then "oh, maybe the crotch picture isn't mine". Either deny or don't deny, don't give me this half-assed bullshit. He acts like a damn child.
i like my pols tougher. more serious. less ridiculous. more credible.
and whatever the problem actually is, that's got to be such a serious problem that he can't even think to change the mo to something that can't be proven and displayed. that's insanity. and his wife rambling about her therapy in a press conference? lol. Gimme a freakin' break. It's something right out of SNL.
