Create a Peace Pact Holiday on August 27th (get your city to sign)

Kellogg-Briand Pact National Holiday Petition Goes National!!

On August 27, 1928, the Kellogg-Briand Pact, outlawing war, was signed in Paris.

For making that happen, Frank Kellogg, Secretary of State under Calvin Coolidge (whom in MN the Kellogg Blvd. is named for), was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
He's the only Minnesotan ever to receive that award, and virtually no one, including government leaders, has ever heard of the Kellogg-Briand Pact.

Over the past year Veterans for Peace chapter 27, Through the leadership and hard work of Steve McKeown, has launched an effort to let everyone know that the Kellogg-Briand law is still there, still binding, and should be given attention!

In MN we have gathered over 10,000 "pounding the pavement" signatures, asking for recognition of August 27 as the day
the "World Outlawed War" in 1928.

Now, as we move toward our event August 27 at the Frank Kellogg house in St. Paul, the petition is being released nationally online.

Please sign the online form and then send this to everyone you know.

There are now 10,035 signatures from Minnesota from 243 towns and cities for the petition to request a National Holiday for the Law against war...the Kellogg Briand Pact. There are an additional 485 from 46 states and the District of Columbia plus 23 more from 9 countries.

You can do the same.. get your churches, organizations, friends. etc. to sign the petition.. gather signatures.
It can be done.

If in MN or nearby: Celebrate the 85th Anniversary of the signing of the Kellogg-Briand Pact
On August 27th, Michael and Lizze Gibba, the current residents of the Kellogg House located in St. Paul’s Crocus Hill neighborhood, will be hosting a celebration for the 85th anniversary of the signing of the Kellogg-Briand Pact at the house.

Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the program running from 7 to 8:30.
