<o you've got two things. You've got a little bit of a backlash against the NSA. The Russians granting Edward Snowden asylum, so he finally was able to leave the Moscow airport, and then this Benghazi thing -- and again whatever backlash there is against Obamacare. Then all of a sudden here comes this monstrous terror threat that originally was gonna close our embassies on Sunday, but then it was so bad, and it was so anecdotal, and it was so credible, and it was -- I mean, nothing compares to this until you go back to the same kind of chatter that we were hearing before 9/11, so we gotta close the embassy for the whole week. It's just easy to not believe it anymore. It's just too easy to be cynical. >
first of all aren't other countries involved in this also ? didn't the British call for their citizens in Yemen to leave ? so are they just taking OBama's word for it ? Obama just calls them up and says "i'm getting info about possible terrorist attacks, you might want to tell your people to leave xxxxxx" ? and they just respond ok and not ask questions or to look into anything ?
and why go through closing all the embassies, consulates etc ? if it was fake couldn't he just do what Bush did and mention there were threats but without doing anything about it ?
also much of the focus has been overseas , not here . it's not like he closed down congress and prevented them from doing anything they want. aren't they going to go on vacation anyways ? and most of the nsa stuff has actually died down. if he was so scared about it wouldn't he have issued fake terror alerts when the news first started on it ?

(9,610 posts)If you are a repug (despised by all Dems) who wants the New American century surveillance state what is one way to get it? One way would be to appear to agree with those who are against the surveillance state. Then other members of the same party discount all of the dissenting views because "so-and-so said the same thing so they must be right wing trolls." Nice and easy huh?
Edit - so with this one statement he has still supported the right wing by calling Obama a liar and he tears apart the Democratic party because many of them "must be right wing shills for saying what Rush says."

(15,859 posts)Yemeni officials have suggested al-Qaida threats to multiple potential targets in their country in recent days, including foreign installations and government offices in the capital of Sanaa as well as to the strategic Bab al-Mandeb straits at the entrance to the Red Sea in the southern Arabian Peninsula.
It is not clear if these reports are the same as the intelligence that led to the temporary shutdowns of 19 U.S. diplomatic posts across the Muslim world, reportedly instigated by an intercepted message between al-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahri and his deputy in Yemen about plans for a major terrorist attack.
(snip)
Yemen increased security around the presidential palace and vital state institutions. Tanks and armored vehicles were seen near the palace, and authorities set up checkpoints across the capital, searching cars and individuals, especially at night. Top government officials, along with military and security commanders, were asked to remain vigilant and limit their movements.
According to a Yemeni government official, President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi returned Sunday to Sanaa from the U.S., but only his son was there to meet him because of security concerns among top authorities who were told they might be targeted by al-Qaida.

Polls show public trust in our government is plummeting and has been for years....

(18,115 posts)Besides, they evacuated the US Embassy in Yemen. It doesn't matter whether people listen to rush or not, they had to leave.
I don't think the terror alert is faked. I wouldn't be surprised if it were exaggerated.

(13,180 posts)Wait and see how many subpoenas Darrell Issa issues to find out what the threats actually were. It will end up being zero subpoenas, because it is such complete horseshit that even Issa wouldn't try to make something of it.
After a year with no Issa hearings on the matter, I expect everyone who suspected Obama of "ginning up the threat" to post an OP entitled, "I'm Sorry for Being a Dumb Asshole Like Rush." I will be there to K&R them all.

(794 posts)Looks like Rush has signaled his willingness to assist disguised teabaggers on DU by supporting their latest conspiracy theory about president Obama and recent terrorist activity. The folks that claim to be progressives while accusing the president of maintaining a political kill list and spying on every American all the time have revealed their true partisan ideology over and over again here on DU- Now that the hair on fire fake progressives on DU have garnered Rush Limbaugh's support for their ODS-inspired conspiracy claims about the President of the United States, it is much easier to understand the origins of their lies and hyperbole.
Rush and Greenwald claim this president is a treasonous criminal attempting to destroy America. Makes me wonder if Greenwald accompanies Rush on his child sex slave tours too.
