The desk of Senator Wendy R. Davis

My friends, the Texas Senate has adjourned sine die. As lawmakers wrap up our third special session and prepare to finally return to our districts, I can't help but reflect on the very first thing I did at the beginning of this legislative session. I placed on my desk a medal that was given to me by the remarkable David Marcou, a veteran of the Vietnam war. He earned this medal in service to our country. I hope that our work in the Texas Legislature this year embodied the spirit of what he fought for – the fearless pursuit of liberty and the willingness to stand and fight with all you have for the principles you hold dear.
