Walker’s Cops Take Flag from Vets for Peace

"At the Solidarity Sing Along in the Wisconsin capitol today, Scott Walker’s police arrested the national treasurer of Veterans for Peace, Mike Harrington.

He was holding the flag of Vets for Peace and singing nonviolently when officer took the flag away, handcuffed him, and marched him out of the Rotunda, as fellow protesters chanted, “Shame, shame, shame!”

Harrington, who was among a handful of people arrested today, is in town for the annual meeting of Vets for Peace."

* “It’s getting to be a farce,” said Berceau. “This must be helping Scott Walker in the polls or with his fundraising, but how long can this go on? Wisconsin is not a democracy. It’s just not. Should I call it fascism?”

There should be 1000 vets down there singing. We fought for this country and it is an insult what is happening in Wisconsin and other states. Force the cops to arrests a bunch of vets in uniform.

I have already seen the WI Vets for Peace in the crowd singing and getting arrested...

and now Vets for Peace from all over the country are in town.

These are the Vets who stand up for justice, for the constitution, for the wounded warriors and the civilians.
I wish I was there.

My peace friends from MN are heading over there tomorrow to attend Vets for Peace events... looks like they might have to take a trip to the Capitol

8.7.13 Mike Harrington, a Vietnam War veteran with Veterans for Peace, was arrested over the noon hour for participating in the Solidarity Sing Along. Capitol Police took a large white Veterans for Peace flag from Harrington's hands and rolled it up. They handcuffed Harrington and marched him out of the rotunda, followed by his fellow Veterans for Peace activists and a crowd of outraged supporters.
