Indiana lawmaker stands by view of Girl Scouts

Morris calls group a radical organization promoting abortion and homosexuality

February 22, 2012|By Rene Lynch, Tribune Newspapers
Bob Morris isn't backing down.

Despite ridicule even from within his party, the freshman state representative from Indiana is standing by comments labeling Girl Scouts of the USA a radical organization that promotes homosexuality and abortion and is out to destroy American values.

"My family and I took a view and we're sticking by it," the Republican told The Associated Press, adding that his daughters are members of a group for conservative Christian girls
. "My girls are no longer Girl Scouts. They're now going to join American Heritage Girls."

Morris said he made his conclusions after talking to constituents and conducting "a small amount of Web-based research." He said the discussion and research led to his conclusions that the Girl Scouts encourage sexual activity, are a front for Planned Parenthood and that Scouts are encouraged to look up to role models who endorse feminist, lesbian and communist agendas.

He also noted a Colorado troop's decision to allow a transgender boy to join.

People take a stand and then ever after they figure out it is a dog, they keep defending it. As if the defense somehow justifies the ridiculousness of the original position.

Hahaha. Someone sent him a RW smear and he believed it. I wonder if he's also fallen for Nigerian scams.

And notice how he said that his girls are going to join the other group. My guess is that there isn't even a group in his area.

I am so disgusted over this. The ignorance of someone in this high of office. It boggles the mind. I can only shake my head and wonder what this guy was forced to eat as a Child. What ever it was, there must have been a lot of lead paint chips in it.

it with these types. It has been evident the freshies in Washington came in with the same attitudes. They are constantly trying to pump up themselves. He needs to be kicked out now before he shames the entire state of Indiana as well as his family.

Sure it isn't:

"I took a view and my family has to stick by it." ????

I seriously doubt that your daughters were clamoring to leave the Girl Scouts.

Knowing the lengthy record of repigs and/or religionists & pedophilia, I'm going to assume that the leadership of that organization is a cesspool.

Enourage them to join "our" organization. Heck, it is better yet to force them to join.

Hitler Youth Facts

In 1936, the total number of boys and girls registered as Hitler Youths was 4 million
By 1938, attendence was barely 25%, thus making it nessecary to have an attendence law

With this current batch of lunatics, they won't just stop at encouraging.
Attendance to Heritage camp will be mandatory.
