"You know but other than me going over there with a gun and holding it to their head and maybe killing a couple of them, I don't think they're going to listen unless they get beat."
-- Rep. John Sullivan (R-OK), quoted by TPM, telling constituents that he'd have to personally shoot members of the U.S. Senate to get a budget passed through the chamber.

(10,602 posts)The GOP wants a totalitarian one party government. Why are they not labeled public enemy #1. HIs statement shows how dangerous the GOP is.

(82,849 posts)Rep. Sullivan is a very modest, self-effacing type. If he ever served in the military, it's not mentioned in his official bio, so I don't know what kind of experience he has in holding guns to people's heads. I suppose he could ask his pals in the Tulsa Catholic Charities what the preferred method is for threatening people with death over a policy dispute.
Should I hold my breath waiting for an apology from Speaker Boehner or Majority Leader Cantor, condemning these reckless remarks?

(37,540 posts)Keerist, the eliminationist rhetoric I expect from a wacko RW gun nut up in a compound in the Rocky Mountains somewhere...but an elected member of Congress using threats like this? If this were a Democrat making this kind of suggestion as a way to end filibusters, I wonder how the media would portray him?

(4,452 posts)You will disgrace your cause and put your party in the weeds for decades. Go ahead fool! Lock & load!
Just don't be too surprised if someone on the other side has you in their sights. I haven't shot at a living thing in 40 years, and that was a squirrel, but I can still put a tight pattern at 100yds with open sights.
You want to talk mean and nasty and shoot em' in the head, just remember you are not alone and we are not all on the same side of the issue.
To be clear, I don't wish you and yours any harm but if you bring it on you may be answered in kind.
Be careful what you wish for!
edit to add: I wanted to respond via email but he apparently doesn't accept comments out of the district. If anyone can offer me a valid zip or want's to forward my message, please feel free. I've got no problem sending it from my IP. I would leave VM but I figure that would be dumped faster than email.
I'm sorry if my statements seem militant and overly aggressive but at some point these fools have to realize we are all not all over backwards fall to our knees saps willing to take their shit. I only have one love in my life to defend but I will defend her to my last breath.
I hope someone can forward my message or give me the options to deliver it directly.

Like I said, after this last election, the first order of business is pass a budget. Now, I believe that. I supported the Paul Ryan budget and sent it over to the Senate. Now I live with some Senators, I yell at them all the time, I grabbed one of them the other day and shook him and Id love to get them to vote for it boy Id love that.
There are figures of speech (holding a gun to their heads/my head), and there are irresponsible words that are quite possibly incitements to violence. This asshat's words are much closer to the latter than they are the former. I won't hold my breath waiting for the republican party "leadership" to insist he apologize.

(10,602 posts)I was corresponding with a person here on this site who lived in Ohio. He was commenting on how his GOP neighbors were saying how they had their guns ready for Democrats or something like that. He commented like he had a good Smith and Wesson. I do not remember the exact weaponry mentioned.
The point is you hear all the rhetoric from the right about 2nd amendment solutions. There is a lot of eliminationist rhetoric floating around in RW circles. The GOP uses violence inciting code every day. Obama is being called a communist. dangerous president (Gingrich), socialist, Islamist, etc etc. They are over the line 24/7. And their rhetoric has been growing steadily for years now.
Were it 1860 we would be in a shooting war right now. They are creating an atmosphere of hatred. And we never saw this kind of dialogue before Ronald Reagan. And it really started in earnest with Newt.

Did he spend time on the mean streets of Oklahoma, defending his turf? What are his gang colors? Never mind - it's red, red, red for the GOP Gangbangers USA.
Someone post this guy's contact info if you could. I haven't given a good rant to a politician in a while...
Note to Sullivan: you're supposed to be making laws, not bragging about how you'd like to break them, you ignorant, violent, sociopathic, piece of shit thug.
