Top Orlando International Airport executive quits

A top manager at Orlando International Airport has quit for personal reasons, an official said Monday.

Bridgitte Rivera Goersch, a deputy director in charge of security and technology, resigned Friday, spokeswoman Carolyn Fennell said.

Goersch was involved in an initiative of the airport board to determine if the Transportation Security Administration should be replaced with private contractors. The board's decision on TSA could be made next month

As security chief, she also oversaw the airport's response to a fire on one of the baggage belts in the B terminal Aug. 4. Airport officials are investigating the cause and have not issued a damage estimate. No one was injured, an airport release said.

We're not under a Republican administration so we're letting our guard down. It can be much, much worse.

We had company policies which were strictly followed or else.

Look at all the things TSA has done, do you really think anyone gets punished? They cover up rather than fix. Just like cops do.

in the private sector. That gets multiplied exponentially when city government decides to develop partnerships with them. And when you have Republicans in power, expect that line to get blurred.

Unfortunately, the same thing tends to happen when you have neo-liberals in charge.

Our district manager was liberal. He even did a fundraiser for Obama before I was employed with them.

You are just stereotyping. Not all private security is bad. There are some good companies out there.

that is routine in my community. They have no respect for authority and the desire to break or enforce rules relies solely on what it will gain them.

I'm aware of the corruption.

Now let me ask you, you think no gov agency is ever corrupted? What about police, how do you think they do?

organization. For one thing, you don't have to worry so much about getting sued. The rules for public agencies are so clear cut that they know when it's impossible for them to justify malfeasance.

That's probably why they are strategically trying to grow tendrils in the private sector, where their cronies can hide the evidence of corruption.

Out in the suburbs we don't have anything equivalent to OBT. That means the police have nothing to distract them from covering for the good ole boys when needed.

Don't confuse local, state and federal government agencies. There is a lot of corruption going on at a local level that would not be tolerated so openly at a federal level.

a liberal and a neo-liberal are not always the same thing.

liberals and Neo-liberals may agree that government should fund large public government works, but that's where the similarities stop. Where liberals believe in process and transparency, neo-liberals break rules, working in secrecy, colluding with Republicans in the private sector in order to advance their objectives.

Just my observation.

Our democratic process requires that our local papers have a social conscience. Instead they are part of the problem.
