NFL to prohibit all opaque packages from entering stadiums

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

but don't fret - they will sell you a clear bag so that all of your belongings can be seen by them.

just recently. And, despite it being covered for days by every television news program, newspaper, and radio station in the Twin Cities, MN, hundreds of people showed up for the game will the stuff that is now prohibited. It was a very strange day. They did provide a place where you could check items, but that didn't stop a constant stream of emphatic complaints from Vikings fans.

I foresee many more problems with this new policy as the news-illiterate fans show up for games.

The NFL is just reflecting America's Post-constitutional reality. Endless surveillance, all the time, everywhere. Whee!

Wow. I haven't been to an NFL game for a long time, but I do know that my MLS stadium doesn't allow any food or beverages to be brought inside (because they want to make $ on concessions).

I cut my flying by 90% after 9/11 because I didn't want to deal with the TSA idiocy, and only put up with the TSA rapists when flying is absolutely needed. I've enjoyed watching the Niners at the 'Stick since I was a kid, but there's no way I'm going to mess with that hassle just to attend a stupid football game that I can see on TV.

The NFL seems to have forgotten an incredibly important point. People put up with the TSA because they HAVE to travel. Nobody likes them, but they have no choice if they want to get where they're going. Nobody NEEDS to attend a football game. According to the NFL, if I want to take my teenage daughter to a game and she's on her period, she's now required to put her tampons in a clear bag so that everyone she walks past can see them? I don't think so! I was pretty mad when the NFL started doing the patdowns, but this is just beyond the pale. No tickets for me this season. Or next. Or any others until this is rolled back.

Heck, with modern HD televisions, it's not like you're missing that much.
