http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/19/ed-schultz-weekdays-chris-matthews-msnbc-chris-hayes_n_3780084.html?6
Ed Schultz is moving back to weekdays, and taking one of Chris Matthews' time slots, MSNBC said Monday.
Schultz will take over the 5 PM slot Mondays through Fridays, starting August 26th. Matthews, whose "Hardball" aired at both 5 and 7 PM, will now air solely at 7.
TV Newser and The Hollywood Reporter both reported the news.
The move represents something of a triumphant return from the wilderness for Schultz. He moved to the relative desert of weekend afternoons back in May; now, he will not only be returning to weekdays, but kicking off MSNBC's prime time lineup every night.

and names of people are very hard for him too..
I like Al, but it's a cringe-worthy attempt at a show every day.. I wish they'd give him a couple of comfy chairs & have 1 guest and just left them talk...and lower Al's mic by several decibels

Tweety is terrible, glad to see his time reduced. He loves the "game" of politics, and the gotchas, but he's part of the distraction rather than part of the solution.
Just my opinion.

(13,919 posts)Agreed, and disagreed. TYT brings lots of interesting material to the front. But then they the present it like the annoying, socially awkward, but oh so intellectually superior older cousin presenting youtube videos to the younger kids at a family function.
I find it annoying. Whenever their clips are posted, I want to watch, but I cant force myself to watch Cenk. Usually the unedited, non commentary version will be available somewhere, so I end up using the prompting of a TYT clip to search out the original video, which usually is able to speak well enough on its own. So.. I'd be less informed/aware without them, but I never watch them. Its an odd learning model.
That said, I've put the kibosh on cable and basically never watch any TV news anywhere anymore, so My opinions of what should be on the lineup dont really matter much.

If they could replace Rev Al (stop yelling) and Tweety with less spittle, I might watch during those hours. It's hard on Mtn time to watch any of the prime time stuff except with the EST repeats. (1,306 posts)I'm glad Big Ed is returning. I've been a fan since the
Air America days. I love it when he gets himself all
jacked up about labor unions and workers' rights. He is
a rare champion of the middle class and doesn't back
down to bullies or the corporatist demagogues.
Sadly, it can be excruciating to watch him or Rev Al as they
stumble through and butcher the script with their stilted
deliveries. Al can seem lost sometimes. Ed is at his very best
when he goes off-script and gets pissed off (I'd love to
see him punch somebody in the face!) I believe that Melissa
Harris-Perry could attract more viewers than Al or Chris Hayes.
I could never understand why, from a business perspective,
MSNBC would repeat Hairball at 7 pm, only to interrupt the flow
of their programming (lots of clickers heard clicking at 7 pm)
Rachel is their star -- amazing amount of info and insight every day.
You can tell she has a PhD by the way she presents her theses.
The pedantic Chris Hayes bores the hell out of me. Lawrence O's
show is "OK". He usually has great topics, but he tends to overdo
the maudlin routine.
And I also feel repulsed by the "Lock Up" shows. When did
televising the misery of prisoners become "entertainment"? What
is so fascinating? Why not televise burn victims in hospitals or
the people being tortured in Gitmo? Sadism and voyeurism all
rolled into one horrible program.
My ideal MSNBC line-up would be:
5 pm: Chris Hayes
6 pm: Big Ed
7 pm: Hairball
8 pm: RMS
9 pm: Melissa Harris (? with Karen Finney)
10 pm: Lawrence O.
11 pm: Sean Hannity (JUST KIDDING!) recycle -- including Fridays.
