tales of untold energy, domestic energy at that, why are we still mucking around in the Middle East?
I know it's natural gas and not oil but that good old American ingenuity should be able to somehow get all that AMERICAN energy onto the highways and byways, via natural gas to run are planes, trains and automobiles.
Oh I forgot, the big oil companies own a lot of oil so they aren't going really let their congress to veer away from oil, no frackin' way will they surrender all those profits. Nope, those Good old boys who stand up every time Lee Greenwood rambles through his patriotic screed like the IDEA of being an American but when it comes to the holy of holiest, the sacred oil, they could give a shit who buys it.
What it all boils down to is this; fracking is just a stop gap for our countries energy needs.
My question is this, why isn't anyone on OUR side screaming bloody murder about being forced into another middle east conflagration because of our deep need for Oil.
Isn't it about time we started to get serious about alternative energy because things are going ro get CRAZY. If there was no oil in the Middle East we could just protect Israel and let the mullahs figure out if the Sunni's or Shi'ite, or for that matter, the Kurds run the show....

We have Freedom to Choose in America. Will that be Pepsi or Coke?

(149,737 posts)There's a LOT MORE oil in the Middle East. Besides, that feeds our Military-Industrial Complex, so we can go to War!
That's why we're over there.
Stop gap is right. They just can't let go.
I could not agree more. We are way overdue to have some alternative ideas about energy production. We need solid plans for the long haul yesterday.
