It's a puzzle to me but I have friends that are registered Republicans and nothing their Party does will make them change their minds. They may as well all live in Pittsburgh and root for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Republican is their team. They hate the Democrats like they hate the San Francisco '49'ers.
The Democratic Party has become much like the Republicans. It doesn't matter what the Party stands for. It is their team against the hated right-wingers. The only thing that matters is the final score. All they need to do is get out more voters on election day. Then they will win. That is the most important thing for either Party.

(111,089 posts)Does anyone think it is more important to stand for something than to simply win the next election? After all, if you don't win the next election, it doesn't matter what your stand for? Isn't that a form of instant gratification which never asks for sacrifice?
