It really doesn't matter what your political Party stands for...

It's a puzzle to me but I have friends that are registered Republicans and nothing their Party does will make them change their minds. They may as well all live in Pittsburgh and root for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Republican is their team. They hate the Democrats like they hate the San Francisco '49'ers.

The Democratic Party has become much like the Republicans. It doesn't matter what the Party stands for. It is their team against the hated right-wingers. The only thing that matters is the final score. All they need to do is get out more voters on election day. Then they will win. That is the most important thing for either Party.

Does anyone think it is more important to stand for something than to simply win the next election? After all, if you don't win the next election, it doesn't matter what your stand for? Isn't that a form of instant gratification which never asks for sacrifice?

our system--two big-corpo parties and the Pauls' petty-corpo astroturf movement--is their ideal
same for Menem in S South America: they were there to dismantle the economy and provide total pardons

matter what they do in hopes of keeping those votes. When in reality this strategy loses votes instead of keeping them.
