LANSING – Mitt Romney played up his Michigan roots to a crowd of about 350 people in Lansing this morning before promoting his plan to cut federal spending and reduce dependence on foreign oil.

The former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential candidate reminisced about his father George Romney’s first inauguration as governor of Michigan and his childhood home at 6 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue in Highland Park.

“We were lucky this morning to wake up and see that snow…it’s so pretty out there. I love Michigan,” he said this morning at the 2012 Lincoln Day Breakfast hosted by the Ingham County Republican Party at the Chisholm Hills Golf & Banquet Center.

There's a reason why China and India have expanded so rapidly: state investment in infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
