Directions: Lafayette Square Park is located on H St. between 15th and 17th Sts., NW. A public park, it is accessible to the public. Closest Metro stop: McPherson Square. Metro Trip Planner
I understand not everyone can get to D.C., and this is very short notice, but I'm hoping you can join us for a coalition effort to ban fracking on public lands. Fracking is a particularly dangerous method of extracting methane and other carbon-based fuel from shale formations. We're confident our actions can make a difference. Our theme will be: "Yes we can stop fracking."
We will deliver petitions to President Obama and the Department of the Interior, with hundreds of thousands of comments. Join us and bring your friends and anti-fracking signs! Please help spread the word on Facebook.
President Obama has spoken out about the need to curb climate change, but his plan includes allowing the oil and gas industry to pursue aggressive fracking. But fracking is no solution to climate change, and will actually make it worse.
Scheduled Speakers Include:
David Braun, Americans Against Fracking
Drew Hudson, Environmental Action
Emily Wurth, Food & Water Watch
Karen Feridun, Berks Gas Truth
Mike Hersh, (me) for PDA and MoveOn
Whit Jones, Energy Action Coalition
Jason Kowalski, 350.org
