I agree this needs to be addressed. It doesn't matter how much you fund something if a few liberal_at_heart Aug 2013 #8

If education is as 'broken' as our esteemed politicians and pundits and claim, why are Privateers itching to get their hands dirty in it?

Maybe it's because public education (I approve public education, just think that there should be some reforms.) has driven the price so high that private institutions see an opportunity to provide a cheaper alternative and still make a profit.

We don't need him and Duncan to spread the poison to postsecondary education.

He's not imposing standards. He's just proposing a rating system so that the consumer can make good choices.

This is RTTT/NCLB for higher ed. Next will be the abolition of tenure and academic freedom to get public dollars.

This is all about dismantling the public sector for private gain.

I don't trust his proposal as far as I can throw it given his and Duncan's track record on education.

This administration already has a horrible track record on education issues.

people hoard that funding. But along with administrators' pay you have the fact that the federal and state governments simply don't fund universities the way they used to. This whole college rating thing sounds like an extension of Race to the Top. Let's decrease the funding we give and then demand more accountability. That sounds like a great idea. Democrats suck on education.
