Worcester woman fights for the right to bare breasts

On the streets of Worcester, some residents have done a double take, questioning whether they really saw a woman walking or biking around town topless.

"That's me," said Stacey, who did not want to have her last name published. "I'm trying to promote topless equality."

In early July, Stacey stepped outside her Worcester home fully dressed below the belt, but without a bra or shirt.

"I've been a nudist for years and years," she said. "I started being an activist about a month ago."

in Ontario for years I don't see the big deal. I did suspect some cultural differences after Janet Jacksons accident though.

It would stop people from making nasty remarks about them. But they most certainly have the legal right to show them.

I can't type for shit! And that is embarrassing, lol!

This has been legal in NYC for years. Why should it be legal for a shirtless man to display his man-boobs but illegal for a woman to be topless?

If it happened all the time, those mags would go out of business. They thrive on the 'forbidden fruit' aspect of our Puritanical society.

but I'd be more supportive of a movement to get men who aren't swimming, jogging, or at the beach to wear shirts in public.

It would destroy our consumer society.

Men might stop buying cars and alcoholic beverages!

This prohibition in our culture is the same as the clothing restrictions in more fundamentalist societies.

Topless is unremarkable in societies where everyone is topless, just as hair is unremarkable in societies where nobody covers up their head.
