George Zimmerman looking for shotgun today

George Zimmerman was on the hunt today -- for a shotgun ... TMZ has learned.

Zimmerman went to Kel-Tec in Cocoa, Florida ... a gun manufacturing company. We're told he was asking questions about the legality of buying a shotgun -- specifically, the Kel-Tec KSG.

The gun in question is a tactical shotgun, often used for home defense. It holds 12 rounds of 12 gauge shells.

And this is interesting ... Kel-Tec manufactures the PF-9 gun -- the pistol Zimmerman used to kill Trayvon Martin.

We're told the owner's son took Zimmerman on a tour of the grounds, including the area where the firearms are assembled. The photo of Zimmerman and an employee (above) was taken inside the assembly plant.

It's unclear if he actually bought the shotgun while he was there.

A person who acts so proud of being a murderer is a likely repeat offender. The so called "responsible gun owners" proved to the world that they can not be trusted with guns when they supported this murderer.

To believe that I'd need to see some serious evidence that being obese gets you acquitted, considering that there is evidence it gets you passed over for jobs/ promotions and paramedics stop trying to revive you sooner.

I think stress-eating and possibly a disruption of his normal exercise routines would be more likely causes of the weight gain.

No one can deny that he has had thousands of death threats against him.

With the jury's verdict all of his rights were restored to him, including gun ownership and his CCW. So it isn't surprising that he would buy such a gun.

Personally, I think it is excessive firepower for home defense. But it is his money so he can buy what he wants.

Zimmerman is too emotional a figure to involve in discussions of gun control, the rights of those acquitted of crimes, or how to deal with real threats against unpopular people.

It really is sad to see liberal values evaporate because the subject may be contemptible.

Once he was acquitted (much to many's dismay), he was allowed to be in possession of a firearm. While I believe the firearm he used to shoot Trayvon still remains as evidence as to any possible federal charges, he can still own a gun.

And everyone will automatically associate George Zimmerman's name and face with that of a gun. He doesn't need to go around and seemingly gloating at gun factories to prove a point.

But whatever. Murderous assholes will be murderous assholes.

Its a bull pup design where the barrel meets the minimum length (18 inches), but the receiver and chamber feeding occurs further back in the stock.

Short-barrel shotguns and rifles are not illegal in most places, per se, but they do require federal paperwork and extra fees.
