Ted Nugent’s Wife Arrested in TX Airport for Bringing Gun in Terminal

Shemane Deziel, wife of rocker Ted Nugent, has been arrested at the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport for bringing a gun into the terminal, TMZ reports.

TMZ has very few details so far, and it’s not clear yet whether Nugent was with his wife at the airport.

Ted Nugent is a notable supporter of gun rights, and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the NRA.

... and we must be missing some of the story, as it is not illegal to carry a concealed handgun in the airport terminal if you have a concealed carry license. I've done it many times. It is illegal to take it into the "secure area" of an airport (past the TSA checkpoints) but you need a ticket and a boarding pass to do that. There is no prohibition to having a weapon in the unsecured area (ticket desks, baggage claim, etc.) with a license. I did it just last week when picking up the granddaughter.

So I'll wait for the rest of the story. (Maybe she was trying open carry, which doesn't fly in Texas?)

Airport spokesman David Magana confirmed that the DFW Airport Department of Public Safety took Shemane Ann Nugent, 51, into custody, and “the rest of it is working its way through our system of legal approval.”

Nugent’s attorney, David Finn, said that taking the gun to the airport was an “honest mistake.” Finn said Nugent has a concealed handgun license.

Finn said Nugent had worked late and got up early Thursday for the airport, and either “completely forgot or never knew the weapon was in her bag.”
