3. We as humans always have a moral basis to condemn bad things, even if we once did them too

A murderer can decry murder.
A thief knows that theft is wrong.

Because we once committed a crime doesn't make it less wrong when someone else commits it now.

We were wrong to drop napalm in Vietnam. Someone should've stopped us. Syria is wrong to do it now... Someone should stop them. Why not us if we have the means to do so?

Therefore the US does not believe napalm or other incendiary weapons (white phosphorous is an example) should be banned.

Are you saying that Syria should be allowed to drop napalm on people because that's what we've done?

But we have and we reserve the right to do it again.

Other than that I am in full agreement that it is wrong.

edit: to clarify another thing, the US is a signatory to the Chemical Weapons Convention, so in that case we have, as a country, taken a moral stance, and we've destroyed 90% of our stockpiles (it takes time to destroy them because they need to build facilities on the stockpile sites, and money for that tends to be forgotten from one administration to the next).

"you are 50 years too late". Then I thought, 50 years, that's not possible. 50 years back is 1963, 1963 the Vietnam war and Pres. Kennedy was assassinated. OMG, what I lived thru is being taught as history. I turned 20 in Jan 1963. My head hurts. Did I just realize this, no. But still.............
