"The first thing we're going to do is to make sure the server is taken care of."

Since everyone and their dog has a DU OP about the "1% tipper," I thought this update was worth pointing out, from the restaurant chain's VP of operations:

In a conversation with the Huffington Post, Mike Wilcox, the vice president of operations for True Food Kitchen, gave some insight into how the company was treating the incident since the receipt began receiving attention online. Wilcox said that the restaurant was "absolutely" treating the receipt as real, but to confirm its authenticity for certain, they were in the process of tracking down both the physical receipt at the restaurant and the computer-generated copy in their credit card system.

"The first thing we're going to do is to make sure the server is taken care of," Wilcox said, "and make sure the server wasn't treated badly or insufficiently tipped." He explained that they would be asking Breanna, the server named on the receipt, if she recalled the table and how her service was. "If her service was up to the level" they assume their employees would deliver, Wilcox said, "they would do everything they can to make it up to her somehow." Referring to online comments posted about the receipt, Wilcox remarked, "people are asking us to ban the person from the restaurant -- if more information came through on who the person is I first would love to talk to him."

So Mike Wilcox, Vice President of Operations for True Food (and most certainly part of the 1%!) thinks he can just "PR' his way out of this.

Here's a question for you, Mile Wilcox:

Why don't you just pay your servers a living wage?

That way, they would not be so dependent upon the crumbs that the members of the 1% who eat at your restaurant leave behind.

But if you leave them 20+%, they don't have to report that (but are supposed to). We prefer to over-tip and servers appreciate it and show it on subsequent visits. I agree that it would be better if the tip was built into the cost in higher salaries, but that's not how things work in the US. I almost always pay in cash to be sure the server gets the tip part of it.

Maybe not now, but when this fervor subsides, the server is toast. If I were Breanna, I'd be looking for another job right now.

A waiter/waitress talked about cheap/bad customers on-line. The restaurant found out who it was, and they got fired. The restaurant wants the customers not to be afraid to go their restaurant.

Ask your dog about this. He posted a great analysis earlier this week.

The picture was taken and published by a guy who worked with the non-tipper. He runs a blog exposing his profession for the asshats they are.

She didn't post the photo of the receipt. She hasn't publicly talked about it. Why would she be targeted by management, which has suggested that they are prepared to make her whole once they've investigated.

I think she'll be gone as soon as they can find a convenient fig leaf, once you come to the attention of corporate management in a negative manner you are a marked woman or man.

Painful experience with corporate shenanigans is why I think that..

In the future, before passing along unsubstantiated rumors in the form of a new OP, you should check to see if they've been debunked.

I think I once heard such wisdom dispensed by you as a matter of fact.
