Does anybody else think that's an exercise in futility?
Does anyone really think US bombs will bring peace/stability to Syria?

(12,606 posts)Benevolent on our side since no US Personnel are lost if a Drone is downed.
We can then show the Evil Syrians how our MIC is better than their MIC. Our MIC contractors are more hungry for $ then the Evil Syrians contractors are, and they will kill at an ever greater rate.
Peace will be brought about when a reliable US-backed benevolent government is worthy of installation.
Until then they are Evil.
After the Evil is expunged then the US MIC friendly Syrian government will be able to take control and work for the greater good.

(10,724 posts)No argument about the "bad guys on every side" though. Civil war, especially prolonged sectarian civil war, tends to lead to that. The good guys are the first to go, if there are any.

(10,724 posts)the weight of evidence seems to be pretty clear (from what I've read and heard over the weekend) that this was government forces. If the rebels used them too, that's something additional to be investigated, but certainly not a "two wrongs make a right" thing.

is code for the need of the U.S to be the broker of regime change, rather than a conduit for the punishment of "evildoers."

the cost, per drone, of 10 MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aircraft the Air Force announced Monday that it is buying. Drones are a lot of things, but cheap aint necessarily one of them.

(12,437 posts)I don't think President Obama desires any such bombing. I think the media and warmongers are hungry for any failure by this President. I sense the later group is being played a bit.
