Can we please delay this war for just a little bit. I've got reasons.

Once the Congress returns to Washington it will only take a couple of days for them to approve strikes on Syria and the military will be ready to go very soon thereafter. I'm just wondering if we could hold off on the assault for a couple of days. Here is why I ask.

Last week our Mail-lady broke a spring on her Jeep while driving down our road delivering the mail. Could we please repave the road before we spend the money on missiles aimed at Syria?

My neighbor Lee has lung cancer and no insurance. Can we have national health care before we send the Fleet into the Med?

The proposed School Bond didn't pass in this County last year so the elementary school in town won't be getting the new heating system it needs. Can we get some help to keep the children warm before we bomb Damascus back into the stone age?

Bunky, the guy who lives with his wife and two daughters right up the road, can't read or write. Can we get an Adult Literacy program going before the Stealths take off?

I know its asking a lot but maybe could we just take care of a few of the pesky little things needed around here before we go spending billions of dollars elsewhere?

Your question should be directed to the GOP.

Dems want these things. Believe it or not, the President goes on the road to take this issue to the American people to let them know that CONGRESS needs to do their job.

Half of the Democrats in Congress are indistinguishable from their Republican brothers and sisters. If you want progress elect Progressives.

5. What "war"?

Obama is talking about limited strikes and people are talking about "the draft," "troops being killed" and everything related to a ground war.

This is likely going to be less involved than Libya, if it happens at all, and none of the above situations applied.

What will we do when they retaliate? Why, we'll just answer their retaliation with some more or our own.

Not only that, but we 'cruise missile-d' Iraq for a decade and it didn't change the regimes behavior at all. It just degraded their infrastructure a bit and killed civilians.

It's a dangerous and very expensive game, and I don't see how it helps a single American.

Just to be specific, my reply points out what appears to be you inability to comprehend what war is. When our military attacks another country that is war. A big attack is warfare, a little attack is warfare. That is why I used the analogy I did because in that case it might have sunk in that war is not defined by scale, its defined by the action taken. I've discovered that it often takes a crude analogy to get a point across when a person can't see the obvious. So that's why you got the response you did.

The Republicans would take out the whole country.
The Great Compromiser is willing to meet them half way,
and only kill a few thousand Syrians and destroy only a piece of Syria.

What is with all you "PURISTS".
COME ON!!!
We PROMISE it'll be just a little WAR,
so GET WITH the Program and support the President,
or YOU LIKE DEAD BABIES and are helping the Republicans!!!

Once we drop bombs we are at war. You can play word games. You may calling it anything you want, but historically it is called war. You might want to do a quick check of your dictionary. Calling it anything other than war is a lie, and a misnomer.

I don't know how creating more death and destruction will aid the Syrians. Attempts to overthrow Assad will lead to more blood shed as many Syrians support Assad. If Syrians do not have the power or the will to overturn Assad, what then American boots on the ground?

Seems better to stay out and let the United Nations handle it.

I've been told that if we spend a bunch of money with the MIC, then all that spending will trickle down to us and eventually we can use it to build roads and schools and on health care. I'm pretty sure that's how these things work.

Just ask Texas: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023498038

Texas doesn't want to increase taxes on the oil companies. I also heard there are a few other states who are choosing to gravel their roads to save money.
