(CNN) Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton backs President Barack Obama's proposal to take military action in Syria, an aide told CNN's Jessica Yellin on Tuesday.
"Secretary Clinton supports the President's effort to enlist the Congress in pursuing a strong and targeted response to the Assad regime's horrific use of chemical weapons," the aide said.

(1,701 posts)One would hardly expect her to oppose it. She has many admirable qualities, but she is something of a hawk in foreign affairs. What I don't understand is why people who should realize how risky this situation is are not worried about the escalation in the number of Syrians who are likely to flee the country as a result of this. Is Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey on board with this? Surely they are the countries that will be most directly affected in addition to the Syrians themselves.

(21,115 posts)think about that for a moment...2 million people left their home country....for a life of abject poverty in refugee camps....cause that life is better than the war zone at home. Possibly because they have known for sometime about the low level chemical weapons usage.

(94,901 posts)Poor planning and bad advisers. In particular her unawareness of how the caucus States would play out.
But she was competitive until the last minute. Show me where her position on Iraq affected her chances.

(16,184 posts)I'm not a pacifist either, but not a single goddamned US action in the Middle East has ever worked out for the best or done anything remotely close to saving innocent lives.
I have absolutely no reason to believe this one will either.
