While TPP slides in the back door. Syria involvement is already doing great harm to our Country and we haven't even gotten past the pre-war hype.

(49,990 posts)Since 2010, negotiations have been taking place[8] for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a proposal for a significantly expanded version of TPSEP. The TPP is a proposed free trade agreement under negotiation by (as of August 2013) Australia, Brunei, Chile, Canada, Japan,[9] Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States, and Vietnam.[10] South Korea was asked by the US to consider joining the TPP[11] but declined for the time being.[12]
The TPP is ostensibly intended to be a "high-standard" agreement specifically aimed at emerging trade issues in the 21st century.[13] These ongoing negotiations have drawn criticism and protest from the public, advocacy groups, and elected officials, in part due to the secrecy of the negotiations, the expansive scope of the agreement, and a number of controversial clauses in drafts leaked to the public.

(37,748 posts)It's a tough, old world when we're prevented and denied from conveniently and simplistically concentrating on merely one issue at a time... which unfortunately may be the standard far too many set for themselves.

(12,448 posts)while we're all watching the circus. Pockets are still lined with "campaign contributions". Criminals are still walking free from the fear of any investigation, let alone prosecutions. Bubbles are still being re-inflated with taxpayer money. Contracts are still being rewarded to criminal companies...
Look! Its all shiny...

(32,060 posts)so I definitely agree with your assessment.
Overall in life my philosophy tends to be "open borders for people, closed borders for bananas" - but that only works if everyone is on the same page. If we are going to send even more of the few jobs we have overseas we are in big trouble here.
