The meltdown came in the neighborhood of Boro Park in Brooklyn, where Weiner was confronted by a Jewish voter. The voter started jabbing at Weiner and called him a "scumbag" as he walked out of an establishment, something to which Weiner objected.
"Yeah, takes one to know one, jackass," Weiner quipped back. "... What's that? You wait until I walk out to say anything that's courage!"
Weiner and the man subsequently approached one another.

(3,891 posts)I mean, at the least someone should come by and help him update his resume for life in the private sector, not that anyone is in a big hurry to hire a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen, but there might be some job he could do. Perhaps on third shift, he could manage the late night janitorial staff, so long as someone was there to tackle him when he offered to send them some texts.

(21,115 posts)why someone is a "scumbag" because they sent dirty pictures to a willing participant is beyond me...
Going to be really hard to find candidates in the future based on this standard.
Savannahmann
(3,891 posts)First, the lawsuit is for whatever he did as an employee of the company where he was the manager of the fictional third shift janitors. Not for what he's already done, but what he'll do in the future.
Second, future candidates. We all make mistakes, we all exercise bad judgment from time to time. The trick is this, don't make the same mistake twice. If you screw up one thing, don't do it again. Just about everyone understands that mistakes happen, and just about everyone knows we screw up, we're human, and it goes with the territory.
Let's say (for the sake of argument only as I never have had) I've had an affair. Either my wife finds out, or I tell her. Either way we argue, she's hurt. We go to counseling, and we agree to communicate better and work towards a strong marriage. She's forgiven me for a period of weakness, a time of bad judgment, and believes I will show better judgment in the future. Then as the sessions of our counseling end, I have another affair, and she finds out. What is my excuse then? What is the old saying? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you.
Many people could and did forgive his behavior once. Nobody will forgive anyone who makes the same mistake again after getting caught.
VanillaRhapsody

(3,891 posts)We are the Democratic Party Base. We are the ones who have to run candidates in our districts to try and beat the Republicans. We are the ones who have heard, and will hear about that ass Weiner and his behavioral issues. We could have, and New York did forgive him the first time. Now, he's not even a punch line in a joke. He's in even worse taste than that.
We are the ones who donate time, money, and our energy to the campaigns that succeed, and those that fail. We are the ones who keep fighting when it looks like all is lost. We keep fighting for ideals, principles. Not some perverted idiot who can't go ten minutes without shooting pictures of his junk to every woman in his phones contact list.

(21,115 posts)I don't give a shit what he does legally when not working...just as I don't care whether you send naked selfies after you get off work!

Go ahead -- you donate your time and money to this loser, but as for the rest of the voting public I think all they'll donate is a fork, because he's done.
As for what you do with yourself after work: if the CEO has his nose rubbed in it and it looks like your activities will make the company look bad, you can kiss your own career prospects goodbye even if you hold on to your current position. If you're a teacher and the School Board must take notice, you'll have an even faster exit.
The Court of Public Opinion has its own logic.

Funny how Mark Sanford can make a political comeback, Newt Gingrich wins presidential primaries and remains relevant in the world of politics, and David Vitter easily gets re-elected every 6 years, but Anthony Weiner is a pariah. To live in a world where a candidate's policies are the only thing that matters when selecting Representatives and office holders.

Look, I'd never vote for Weiner for anything at this point, but he has the right to get pissed off when some dick head bigot is making comments like that.
