Oh, look. Another school attack with death.

**CORRECTION**

I originally referred to this atrocity as a "shooting." Apologies to all.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/09/04/spring-texas-houston-harris-county-stabbing-spring-high-school-dead/2762649/

A teen student was stabbed to death and three others were injured in a possible gang-related confrontation Wednesday at Spring High School in the Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said.

Three students described as "persons of interest" were taken into custody after the fight in a hallway leading to the school cafeteria, he said. At least two were taken away in handcuffs, KTRK-TV reports.

The sheriff's office later said it was questioning a 17-year-old boy as the only suspect, the Houston Chroniclereported.

Spring High School, which serves 3,000 students, was locked down, and classes were canceled the rest of the week.

Garcia said the stabbing occurred around 7:10 a.m. and "may have been gang-related." He said the incident started with a physical confrontation involving a "cutting instrument." Investigators have not found the weapon involved.

I would say violence leading to death among kids in school is newsworthy, regardless of the offending weapon.

You disagree? I'd have posted it if the kid was killed with drugs or sports equipment. Violence in schools, leading to another kid's death, I find newsworthy, as it points to modern influences that allow some to consider others less than human.

I typically lurk on 3 gun boards and it has only received passing comment as a sad event. No calls for more armed anybody; no justification for anything.

I do find it sad that this is an 'in other news' story on every major news group.

For some it is more about the politics than the dead.

Condolences to the families

I was trying to do a few things at once. Pasted in the link, then story, then came back to it a few minutes later and honestly forgot the details. It's so common to hear about kids in school Killed* with guns, I guess it was simply top-of-mind.

I've been here for several years, yet my post count is relatively low, because I prefer to listen before speaking. I realized I mistakenly characterized the story after being called on it in the first post, then changed it.

I would think anyone would be outraged by a news story of a kid being killed while in a school, on school property.

Of course, by now, everyone has forgotten this atrocity and moved on to another that fits their interests, pro or con.

Kids getting killed in school must be too mundane, too common, for most to care about, unless it involves highly politicized methods of inflicting death.
