Would he order an immediate strike, or would he with the country's backing have a stronger case to present to the global community? It would be better if Obama had a clear majority supporting his character. His judgement, trusting him to have this country's best interests at heart. I also do not believe he is a reckless man.
I believe all Obama wants is POLITICAL CAPITAL so he can make his case. I trust Obama, I voted for him because he seemed like a REAL GUY. I respect him as a human being. I don't believe for one minute he wants to bomb Syria, I believe he wants to open a dialog with the rest of the world, force them to deal with this problem. America should not be standing alone.

(12,461 posts)I believe Obama views this action as an Atrocity, I agree with him. What happened in Damascus was an atrocity. I also believe, as Obama does, this act must be confronted. Remember who Obama is, his character. He does not believe in War for just any reason, he was against the Iraq War.
I honestly believe he wants to open a dialog with the global community with a great show of strength. Holding back your power, once given, would be respected. Obama must convince the world they have a duty to confront this atrocity.

(37,305 posts)Less than a week later, however, the Obama administration called on the U.N. inspection team to leave, saying Syria had shelled the sites in question for days, making conditions for the inspectors too dangerous and contaminating evidence that would have made the process credible.

(116,464 posts)(Reuters) - The United Nations on Saturday vehemently rejected suggestions that the world body was somehow stepping aside to allow U.S. air strikes on Syria and said its humanitarian work in the conflict-ravaged country would continue.
"I have seen all kinds of reporting suggesting that the departure of the chemical weapons team somehow opens a window for military action of some kind," U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky told reporters.
"Frankly, that's grotesque, and it's also an affront to the more than 1,000 staff, U.N. staff, who are on the ground in Syria delivering humanitarian aid and who will continue to deliver critical aid," he said.

(22,000 posts)and that the UN inspectors lied about it. Moon is a good guy and did excellent work as a diplomat here in Korea.

DearAbby
(12,461 posts)I saw them collecting samples, interviewing people, and getting specimens of hair and blood samples. The Vote will take another week perhaps two, allowing the UN inspectors to complete their tests. I don't believe Obama will use the powers congress will give him, the very next day. The show of solidarity would be all Obama needed. Don't throw our President under the bus...give him the benefit of the doubt.
There was majority support for Bush, for less.

(37,305 posts)UN weapons inspectors pull out of Syria ahead of schedule
United Nations weapons inspectors left Syria ahead of schedule early Saturday, leaving the path open for U.S. military strikes that could come within hours.

(2,424 posts)I agree.
I think his willingness to negotiate Social Security cuts, his plans to rush through trade agreements secretly negotiated by big business, his staunch support of blanket surveillance to be archived for future retrieval, his low priority for investigating criminal acts on Wall Street, his appointments of Cheney and Goldman Sachs disciples to his cabinet, his using of an Amazon warehouse as a backdrop to taut job growth, are all coldly calculated.
There was nothing reckless about it.
