Kerry invokes the Axis of Evil, with new membership

"It is about whether Iran, which itself has been a victim of chemical weapons attacks, will now feel emboldened, in the absence of action, to obtain nuclear weapons. It is about Hezbollah, and North Korea, and every other terrorist group or dictator that might ever again contemplate the use of weapons of mass destruction. Will they remember that the Assad regime was stopped from those weapons’ current or future use, or will they remember that the world stood aside and created impunity?"

Syria has replaced Iraq on the hit list as the Axis of Evil is again invoked. Kerry argues we have to act in Syria because Iran and North Korea are contemplating using chemical weapons. Setting aside his championing of the bushie framing, he is essentially proposing a new policy. If and when we send Assad and the world this message of punitive attacks, we set the precedent that the US will act anytime non-conventional weapons are used. We would be setting a permanent red line to jump into every war where such weapons were used. Is this what we want to do?

Shouldn't they be warned to not use chemical weapons to stop certain voters from reaching the polls?
