We will get exactly what we deserve...

...if we get involved in another war in the Middle East.

If we are so stupid to believe that a bombing is not an attack and that an attack is not war, then we will get what we deserve.

If you don't remember the babies being torn out of the incubators before we went into Kuwait under Bush I, then you have some very selective memory.

If you don't know that the truth is the first casualty of war, then you have a lot to learn.

If you are persuaded by a few photos and videos, without knowing all the facts and without knowing the circumstances, and if you believe this fucking government, then we are all fucked.

of Ghouta. So does Juan Cole. Is he an idiot?

I really think that the emphasis that some of you are placing on who used gas, is a waste of time. As far as launching an attack goes, I'm against it. period. There are dozens of solid reasons to oppose it. It doesn't hinge on insisting that rebel forces were more likely to have done it.

jump into lock step with whatever our administration tells them. So far, all I have seen from our government is a release stating that, yes gas was used. And they have the" highest possible assessment" and evidence "implicates" the regime. No hard proof as several congressmen have said.

They are good!! Someone might ask " so where's the proof" and before you can say, oil and natural gas our government whips out the videos...and cue the outrage.

I have personally been outraged by the hundreds of thousands of innocent victims of our wars for profit since 2003 !

Our government could give a tin shit about the victims of their greed!!

does that mean if it were proven that Assad was behind the attack, you would support a war? If not, then I don't see any reason to bend over backwards and label a bunch of people liars, and the people who believe them stupid or gullible. I don't worry much about name calling myself, but it certainly doesn't lead to reasonable discussion.

Personally, looking at the evidence we have, and reading Assad's account of it, I'm fairly satisfied that the case against him is made. I don't think evidence has been manufactured to begin another reckless war, and I don't think any "yes" votes on the military strike are indictments of anyone's character. People can look at the evidence and vote their conscience, and proceed with all good intentions in either direction.

With that said, I think the whole thing should be stalled until the UN investigation releases its findings. I can understand the urgency of the administration wishing to act quickly, but I think waiting for more complete information is a better precedent, in the long view.

A great deal of the country is against what the government is doing. The government is basically saying, "we don't care - you underlings don't matter to us anyways. We're going to bomb Syria whether you like it or not." Then, they would just run and hide while we took the brunt of the blowback.
