KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- Afghan officials say an apparent NATO airstrike has killed 15 people - nine of them civilians, including women and children - in an eastern province where the Taliban are strong.
NATO, however, says 10 insurgents were killed.
Kunar province police chief Abdul Habib Sayed Khaili says the airstrike hit a pickup truck soon after three Arab and three Afghan militants boarded it Saturday evening. He said some reports called it a drone strike.
But NATO spokeswoman 1st Lt. AnnMarie Annicelli said Sunday that it was a precision airstrike that killed 10 "enemy forces" and that she had no reports of civilians dying.

(9,688 posts)and you're male, 15yr or up, it follows that you're an legit enemy and the kill is righteous.
That is US doctrine.
A problem is stuff like "double-tapping" and so on, which makes for extensive collateral damage, but that doesn't count in the US "war on terror", just because the US says so.
Nor does it matter than in the mess of blood and flesh and bones after a hellfire missile strike, it's hard to tell which body part belongs to which body. It's hard to verify whether it's "innocent blood and bones and flesh" or "terrorist blood and bones and flesh", so it's reasonable that the US wouldn't actually *count* its victims. What's important to know is that US counts, when the US bothers to count, are correct and unbiased, whereas other counts are total fabrications.
Got it?

NATO stood behind the USA in going after bin Laden, holed up in Afghanistan. I would still vote for that, if I could. But this is 12yrs later and bin Laden is dead, and the Afghan war is now so far beyond being defensible I don't know how anyone can read about it and not vomit.

(6,119 posts)I just don't get it.. Some of the "yes" to bombing Democrats like to refer to the pictures and video's of the children killed in Syria.. yet they forget about the daily killing of children in Afghanistan.. especially the ones by NATO and US weapons.
( and the daily killing of children in the US by guns)

(12,606 posts)You know the kind where a hellfire missal takes out kids, and the drone jokey is told that what he hit was a group of dogs...walking on two legs.
