My neighbor and friend is in the hospital and will stay through 9/11

She has had a series of panic attacks and the general sense that something is not right. They found one viral infection that she did not know about and an abnormal amount of fluid in her heart which they are treating.

September has been a tough month for her and for many of us for the last 12 years. This year has been much worse than most so far. All the saber rattling and echoes of 12 years ago around Syria have been very unsettling. It sounds like the deal for war has been made but they just need a clear reason to go in.

I was hit by a piece of the ceiling during the 1993 attack on the WTC. 8 years later, my father was flying toward NYC at the time of the attacks. His plane was rerouted to Pittsburg but we heard nothing from him until he was in a rental car (with 3 strangers) headed back to the midwest around 1pm. It was a hell of a day for me but not even close to how bad it was for my neighbor.

She lost her husband, their life together, and their hopes and dreams when he died in the WTC. She also lost that feeling that someday things will be better and that good things come to good people. And, if she feels like I do, she recently lost the sense that nothing like 9/11 could ever happen again.

When I see John Kerry spending his credibility day after day to sell this war, and when I see President Obama come with the same bag of bullshit that his predecessor sold us, using the same phrases, targeting the country next to Iraq, then I have to admit I am little scared. John Kerry didn't sell his own candidacy for President as hard as he is selling the war on Syria. We seeing sides of Kerry and Obama unseen before. I don't scare easily but it has been hard to feel secure amid the daily barrage of propaganda for this war with Syria. Who to trust and what to believe have become difficult questions over the last 2 weeks and that's unsettling for anyone.

To my neighbor and all those who struggle yearly with this week of September....
