** Thank You Sergey Lavrov ! (the diplomat who pushed for Kerry's offer(?) to Syria) **
Despite denials and statements that Kerry's offer was "tongue in cheek" and "rhetorical", Sergey Lavrov pushed for a deal and will now take charge of negotiations. Lavrov is a career diplomat who was active in relations with Laos, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka before becoming Russian Foreign Minister.
