I suspect if Assad had thought bombing was not an option, he would never have agreed to turning over the chems. Of course, it ain't a done deal yet.

In these kind of situations, our leaders have to keep a lot of options going and hope something breaks in our favor. I think that happened here.

Whatever, I think if this deal works out, it is a big move forward in the way these situations are handled in the future.

I do hope this leads to a change in the way countries deal with each other, such brinkmanship is dangerous.

Obama deserves the credit for retreating. But that's all. He's not responsible for solving this, he was the responsible for starting it in first place.

I know the political win is what's really important to some of you, but perhaps you should wait until all parties follow through before gloating.
