As soon as I read "Ireland and Hasselbeck were on the same wavelength" I started to get sick...
Ireland and Hasselbeck were on the same wavelength regarding a bill to legalize medical marijuana in Colorado, with Elisabeth expressing concern that it would contribute to the growing number of people addicted to prescription drugs, Joy Behar suggesting that it will merely make everyone hungrier, and Kathy Ireland suggesting that it might lead to a nation of stoners, which would be disastrous since If were going to turn this economy around, weve got to get back to work! You can see the panel discuss the AZ bill in the clip below, via ABC:

(2,424 posts)This has been a nation of "stoners" for the past 30 years. Ireland has likely worked with a "stoned" person on multiple occasions without even knowing it.
I have a question Kathy.
How do you propose our nation will build and pay for the infrastructure required to accommodate the future legions of refugees fleeing the war zone known as Mexico? Simple legislation would effectively cripple the economic engine for this never-ending war.

(1,499 posts)The greatest fear of the establishment.
Happy people working together to provide meaningful lives for each other NOT based around capitalist exploitation.
And they should be afraid.
Despite two generations worth of drug war and propaganda, pot is more popular then ever.

Colorado has the right to put this up for a vote. And I have a feeling that it will pass.
Amendment 20 has been in the laws for 12 years. Needs improvement though, and this ballot will certainly help.

(29,322 posts)but to deal with that problem we must stop the pot. It never makes sense to me, it was easy for me to quit when I got tired of paying for it.

(11,468 posts)Today was 3 to one for poor Joy who managed to say only thing she didn't like about pot was it made her eat more, meaning nothing is wrong with it but the rest cut her off, she was out numbered today.
I have never written the show before but I did today, I told Barbara off for the way she talked about the issue. Told her alcohol was much worse and did she want that to be outlawed also?
I said that my husband uses it and has a card for depression and it has helped him.
I also said that the war on drugs was not working and that it was needlessly putting people in jail and ruining their lives especially black people.
I told them we are normal middle class retired folks in a newer house not hippies
(i guess i said that because they seem to have such a negative pic of people that dare to smoke pot)
I was angry and after I sent the email I turned off the show and won't watch till next week when the others come back.

(29,322 posts)with Mary J. Blige. Though I'm a fan of her music, one of the few mainstream artists I enjoy. I could tell she isn't used to this sort of thing as she seemed to have trouble jumping into conversations, she had an interesting personal story that I wasn't aware of. She was absolutely correct about changing environments which is what they teach in rehab which she didn't need--whatever works.
Anyways, I'm glad to hear that is has. I could never tell if anti-depressants helped or hurt. It was explained it takes awhile to kick in but while that was happening, I felt worse especially when it came to anxiety. Pot seemed to help with that but that was self-medicating rather than prescribed.

(11,360 posts)... they actually think unemployment is high because "people don't want to work" rather than "there aren't any jobs for people who want to work".

Hopefully, this will get her back on track and maybe she can enjoy her last few years on this planet with a quality of life. She was a delightful person and had quite a sense of humor about becoming a pothead in her old age. A nation of stoners, indeed!
