Neighbors heartbroken over 8-year-old boy's stabbing death

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

People in a Rockford neighborhood fight back tears as they talk about an 8-year-old boy stabbed to death. His mother is charged with murder. It's been tough for the far west side neighborhood. The house is at the end of a little dead end street just across from Ingersoll Golf Course, most of the children there play together and the neighbors all know each other.

"Something like that that could happen to any child is shocking. But that you know, interacted with and is in the same age range as your child it's absolutely heartbreaking and shocking," says Donald Bowling.

A razor scooter and flipped over skateboard sit in the yard at 228 Woodrow Street. They are Thomas Kossow's toys.

"He used to play with my children when they were around and he used to come to the house practically wanting to borrow their bikes to ride with his sister," says Bowling.
