I was behind a guy who was buying a couple individual Twinkies at the grocery store last night. The checker was commenting on how badly packaged they were. She couldn't scan the bar code because they had heat sealed half of it into the seam. From what she was saying, I guess Hostess doesn't make money off the sale without a barcode.

6. The new Twinkies taste like shit, too.

Got a box recently for an office potluck. (Predictably, everyone laughed, but it was one of the most popular items in the spread.) I was excited to eat one, in spite of my pro-union inclinations, just because I hadn't had one in so long.

Damn thing tasted metallic and left a disgusting aftertaste. Just about made me sick.

And in case you're wondering, this isn't a case of yearning after my long-lost childhood, "you-can't-go-home-again" syndrome, or anything like that. Last time I had had one was a couple of years ago, not 30 years ago!
