Lying Sack of S*** of The Week: Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad
http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/14/lying-sack-of-s-of-the-week-syrian-president-bashar-al-assad/
Was there any doubt? No, there wasn’t. Mr. Al-Assad won the LSoSOTW competition going away: he started the week by claiming to have no chemical weapons, then claimed he’d be happy to give them up, then saying he maybeprobablywouldn’tunlessthisandthathappened. Nothing else at the link.

4. And he's still killing lots of his people via conventional weaponry.
And has claimed on several occasions that he wasn't doing so, or other lies of various sorts.
A real cuddly teddy bear, yep. |

2. Both Kerry and Obama said it was not misspeaking - a State Department official
walked it back originally because it was not policy. Kerry - as soon as asked - said that it was not misspeaking.
Not to mention, you are making too much of the one year. What they are referring to is that Syria - unstable as it was - having CW is dangerous. No one has said that there were serious discussions to get rid of them. What was said was that Obama and Putin -- and Kerry and Lavrov were speaking of them since Obama was in St Petersburg - which was AFTER SSyria used the gas and AFTER the threat of an attack. Not to mention - it was the MEDIA that called it the slip of the tongue. Consider the question - what answer could be given? -" nothing" is obviously a lie considering today - and it would be 180 degrees from Kerry's constant since childhood preference for diplomacy. - "Assad steps down" - not our goal of the attack and a major faux pas. - refusing to answer or avoiding the question - just stupid. The answer was a no brainer - and the rhetorical part was that at that point they were pessimistic that it would happen. At any rate - keeping negotiations close to the vest is not lying -- and often needed. |

5. You could be right.
I have heard various stories out of DC this week. It may be confusion instead of lies. At least, for the honorable mention.

6. Surprise? No. Lies? Oh Hell yeah.
It will be very interesting to see what follows today's Russian/American agreement.
