Can they tell for certain that those rockets were launched and not just exploded/sabotaged? n/t Uncle Joe Sep 2013 #8
I would assume so, given the impact crater and damage to the munition. joshcryer Sep 2013 #9

Anyone disputing that they were Syria's chemical weapons is deluded.

They were either stolen from the regime or used by rouge elements or used by the regime itself (or if you're a CT believer, the CIA did it).

Regardless they were not some chemicals made in a cave somewhere, it was highly industrial chemicals.

But I wouldn't have expected anyone to read the report or care about its ramifications.

BTW, I predicted the UN would support Germany, France, and the USA's conclusions.

Or at least that they haven't been ever observed using those weapons: http://brown-moses.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/who-was-responsible-for-august-21st.html

The UN inspectors have now confirmed both munitions carried a chemical payload, so the question is, who used them? In the 18 months I've been studying the arms and munitions in the conflict I have never seen either type of munition used by the opposition. The opposition has rocket artillery, for example the 107mm Type-63 multiple rocket launcher and the Croatian 128mm RAK-12, but I've never seen any sign of the 140mm systems (such as the BM-14) that would be used to launch the M14 artillery rocket.

I'm not sure how you would fake the impactor result which Brown Moses has gone into at length. These weapons hit the ground face down and once they do the gas is released. Every image I've seen is consistent with a metallic munition falling from a very great height.

What's interesting about this report is that Brown Moses, after reading the UN report, has now been able to rule out completely that the rebels have used or have had access to those munitions, they've never been observed before in the oppositions hands.

I believe with the UN report and Brown Moses' conclusions we're reaching beyond a reasonable doubt territory.
