Lyin' Liars: Right-Wingers Are Blaming Bill Clinton for the Navy Yard Shooting

The shooting at the Washington Navy Yard on Monday, which left 13 dead, including lone gunman Aaron Alexis, has sparked the usual contretemps (gun control vs. gun “rights”) and the usual conspiracy theories (Obama, basically). But the talking point taking firmest hold on the right is that the Navy Yard, where some 16,000 civilian and military personnel work, was left vulnerable because it’s a “gun-free zone”—and that it became gun free, as all domestic military installations did, due to a decree issued during the Clinton administration. Ergo...

“It hasn't always been the case that only MPs can carry firearms on U.S. military bases. A mere twenty years ago, ‘gun free zones’ made their way to these facilities under the watch of President Bill Clinton,” Breitbart’s Awr Hawkins wrote, citing a Washington Times editorial published in the wake of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that argued for an end to the “Clinton-era military base gun ban.” “In other words, thanks to Clinton, citizens who join the military to use guns to defend liberty abroad cannot practice their constitutional right to keep and bear arms while on active duty at home.”

Citing the same editorial, Austin Peterson at the Libertarian Republic wrote, “(Alexis) was more equipped than the 12 people he killed on the base who were not permitted to carry weapons on the base thanks to former President Bill Clinton.”

...

...the impetus for the Army regulation was, in turn, Department of Defense directive 5210.56, which was issued on February 25, 1992, and was considered "effective immediately" for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Clinton, of course, did not take office until January 20, 1993. So if we’re going to blame a former president for a mass murder… see how ridiculous this all is?

Even Glenn Beck's The Blaze website has an article titled: "This Is Why Most Military Personnel Aren’t Armed on Military Bases — and It’s Not Clinton’s Fault"

Their screencap from the Army reg shows that it is implementing for the Army the requirements of the earlier DoD directive issued under the previous (GHWB) administration:

Army regulation 190-14 actually implements a policy put in under George H.W. Bush, meaning Bill Clinton is not responsible for a lack of armed personnel on military bases. Additionally, the DoD told TheBlaze the Army regulation wouldn’t apply to other branches of the military like the Navy. (Source: Army regulation 190-14)

And the Washington Times has never been a reliable news source: it was set up around the time Reagan came to DC, to help the Moonies cultivate relationships with rightwing conservatives, which is why it's continued to publish despite more or less constantly losing money

Alex Jones says Navy Yard Shooting May Be False Flag attack just to discredit him

By Bandit - September 16, 2013

(Almost looks sane there, doesn't he? Don't buy any dehydrated rations, seeds, Liberty gold coins or used John Birch Society conspiracies from this man. Just sayin' )

Fringe Conservative Conspiracy Nut Alex Jones announced juxg (sic) moments after 12 people were declared dead in a shooting this morning at the Navy Yard in Washington DC, that tragedy was a globalist conspiracy to “discredit” him. It’s all about him.

Alex Jones said, “You better believe that even if they’re just pure jihadis that did this, even connected to Al-Qaeda groups out of the Middle East being commanded by the leader of Al-Qaeda last Friday to attack the United States - even if that’s the case, you can believe like the last three or four cases, they’re going to try to connect it to Inforwars.com and yours truly, part of the long-term demonization campaign.” Media Matters reports, “Who will the Navy yard shooting be blamed on? Terrorist? Tea Partier? Leftist? Lone nut?” Later, on his radio show, Jones said, “when you have multiple shooters like this, it has patsy written all over it,” and compared it to the bombing at the Boston Marathon, which Jones described as “undoubtedly a false flag.” At the time of publication, Reuters reported, “Up to three gunmen, at least two dressed in military-style clothing, killed several people and wounded at least four others in a shooting spree at the U.S. Navy Yard on Monday...”

Jones added that the circumstances of Monday’s shooting had “patsy written all over it.” He said, “This is how you would stage a false flage and then you go back and enter part of the FBI team.”

He continued, “They responded minutes after, really, but it took three hours for this to start winding down...”

I'm sure that's how the frenzied masses will see this event. Watch Media Matters video at link:

Hey, don't shoot me. I just report the news, I don't make it up, but half the news is made up. Wait, did I just shoot myself? Another false flag!!111!!!

Seriously, people really are dead, this man's life is over, friends and families are devastated. Yet we are still assailed daily with the Westboro Baptist School of Journalism claiming everything is a false flag orchestrated by Obama.

And that it's all a ruse to take your guns, send you to FEMA camps and start martial law. Funny how it never happens, but the hopeful who are yearning for the Apocalypse won't let that vision die.

And those who deny it will supply it by promoting a war zone here in the USA.

no fucking body was allowed to carry around loaded firearms but the military police. When we marched to the rifle range with our M16s, they were not loaded. The ammo was issued at the range and every shell casing was accounted for. We marched back with unloaded weapons and turned them in at the armory. When I had permanent duty in Washington, no fucking body on post at Ft Myer could walk around with a loaded weapon but the MPs. Anybody caught with a loaded weapon on post would get in serious trouble. That was over 42 years ago.
