(15,185 posts)barring another economic collapse or really serious scandal, the Republicans have a very narrow and difficult path to victory. The southwest is becoming more blue every election and I think if Terry McCaullife can win a statewide race in VA (he's been leading in polls for the Gov. race for some time now), Hillary or any half-way sane Democrat shouldn't have a problem with the state.
The real issue now isn't about whether Democrats can win - it's about governing. The Republicans are simply unacceptable to much of the electorate, but things like the NSA scandal could drive people away from political participation altogether, giving republicans a win by default...
But recent moves by the administration are more encouraging - especially in pursuing a diplomatic course of action in Syria and not appointing Summers to the Fed.
