Two of Weld Countys largest oil and gas companies on Wednesday reported oil and gas spills into floodwaters, as they and state regulators spent their days in the air and on the ground working to determine damage to operations within flood zones.
Officials from Anadarko reported a 5,250-gallon spill near Milliken at the confluence of the South Platte and St. Vrain rivers; and Noble Energy was able to put a stop to two natural gas releases, while worked to contain a third.
Anadarko is responding and has absorbent booms in the water, reported Todd Hartman, spokesman for state Department of Natural Resources, in a news release. The COGCC responded this afternoon and will, along with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, continue to monitor the cleanup work. have been sending pictures and video to the appropriate state government agencies. Their people said they couldn't send inspectors without knowing exactly where the fallen and leaking tanks were located. They asked if our people could go back and photograph the tanks and the indentifying placcards on them; so, our most dedicated guy took his camera back out there, and was met by workers who wouldn't let him anywhere near the tanks and then stood in front of the placcards so he couldn't get a picture. Being outnumbered, and not being stupid, he decided to leave with his skin intact. ...sigh...
