Bill and Hillary Clinton back de Blasio for NYC mayor

After keeping mum during the Democratic primary, Bill and Hillary Clinton are signaling they are rooting for Bill de Blasio to be the next mayor of New York City.
The former president and former secretary of State gave de Blasio their blessing in a statement issued by their respective spokesmen, Matt McKenna and Nick Merrill.
"Bill de Blasio has been a friend to both President Clinton and Secretary Clinton for many years," the statement says. "They were proud to see him run a thoughtful, creative campaign about the issues, and they are behind him as he moves on to the general election as the Democratic nominee."
<...>
De Blasio, the city's public advocate, managed Hillary Clinton's successful U.S. Senate campaign in 2000. Before that, de Blasio served in the Clinton administration as a regional director for the U.S. housing department.

(2,424 posts)4. Now I have to wonder:
Is de Blasio a Trojan horse? (I am inclined to think not) Or is Hillary holding her finger up to the political winds and noticing the subtle changes?
This is something to pay attention to.
What concerns me:
Hillary endorses left leaning Democrats to gain political ground in a changing political environment, yet retains her "third way" roots.
What she has going against her:
We thought President Obama would embrace the changes he campaigned on. He didn't. At least not on the economic front. I believe many voters are gun shy with campaign rhetoric now and will be looking more at political track record. I don't believe this helps Hillary.
