(50,130 posts)It was sold for 50 cents on the dollar for cash.
So, critics can't claim that SNAP recipients are eating lobster and steak.
In reality, a crook scammed the system and made money. A crooki.
You know, like the banksters do every day.
Do we cut corporate welfare because the banksters took down our economy?
No.

(10,611 posts)you're dead wrong.
Yes, the currently Dem-controlled Senate will stop it.
And if we lose THAT majority in 2014, President Obama will veto it, despite some of you believing otherwise.
But let a Republican take the WH with this Tea Party House of Representatives?
See ya.

(18,402 posts)Really, as a group. I have this image in my head of them slashing food stamps, shutting down the government in a fit of pique over a law that has been passed for four years and approved by the Supreme Court, defaulting on the nation's debts ... and then suddenly erupting, en masse, in flames.

(19,497 posts)Because that is what you're effectively asking for him to do, utilize the criminal and military power of the US against a political party. Yes, they're vacuous, ill-spirited and invested in blind policies but what you advocate would be the end of the nation.

(107 posts)I'm sure this civil war will be short once the 'baggers runs out of ammo they've been hoarding trying to fire accurately (and failing to do so) to the liberals. Then it will be overrun. That will take all of 15 minutes. Really. Just a rubber mallet aimed directly to the top of their head is required.
The minority party needs to learn its limitations and stick with it. If the Republican Party wants to dominate, then get the fucking votes out and become the majority party (which is highly unlikely ever again).

(19,497 posts)Hence the nature of my advice to not advocate for political violence. I will, however, note with great satisfaction and no small measure of relief that you do not own firearms. Nor should you.

(2,205 posts)This is part of the reason the Pukes motivate their base
Before Fox News turned its cameras on him, Jason Greenslate was an anonymous Southern California beach bum, hanging with his surfer pals, playing in a demonstrably awful band and, in his words, "livin' the ratt life."
He doesn't work and gets $200 a month in food stamp assistance that he sometimes uses to buy lobster. Which he did, unapologetically.
"It's free food," said Greenslate, a dead ringer for the infamous slacker in the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. "It's awesome."
And so was born, in the conservative media crucible, the GOP's new face of American indolence.
For House Republicans, who this week will try for the second time in three months to cut farm bill funding for the federal nutrition program, it's a hard anecdote to resist.

(19,877 posts)I'd rather see them eating ultra healthy food like lobster than a receipt full of junk food and non nutritional food.

"You can't afford it, but your taxes pay for these lazy bums to live it up"
It's motivated by jealousy and hatred and it works.
