Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
A conservative group whose funding traces back to Palm Beachs own David Koch and his brother, Charles, is urging young people to opt out of buying health insurance next year.
While the ads message has upset many, its the groups actual ads that are provoking the most outrage. They feature separate videos of a young woman about to undergo a pelvic exam and a young man about to undergo a prostate exam at the hands of a creepy, big-headed Uncle Sam puppet...

(4,555 posts)Personally identifiable information is sent encrypted over the internet. If you communicate using encrypted data, you could be a terrorist. If the NSA decodes that data to find medical data inside, are they in violation of HIPPA? I believe HIPPA intends that the accessing of data is to be done on a need-to-know basis, and here, I assume "need to know" means "in the course of your employment in or with the medical industry." The NSA is not in the medical industry. No worries, I'm sure they can get a court to excuse the oversight.

(3,992 posts)...I wonder (as a doctor) what all this means for the privacy protections afforded by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) in our new era of mandated electronic medical records. Are such privacy protections credible at all?
It doesn't seem so.
Now it seems everyone's health data is just as vulnerable to federal review as their Google search data....

Anyway, "ObamaCare" isn't an "insurance co"... Do they really think people are this dim-witted?

* required vaginal probes for women seeking abortions
* required drug testing for welfare recipients
* required state issued I.D.s for voting
Anything else the "Party of Less Government" wants to use more government for?

(30,058 posts)Would serve to discourage anyone from signing up for health care. Maybe like Frankenstein characters to be the Koch Brothers.
